Electricity and Magnetism eBook Elisha Gray
This is just an old text but I enjoyed it. It's well written and I found myself easily visualizing the concepts that it discussed. It's not a good beginner text if you are totally new to the subject, because there's better updated primers out there, and this has a few things that are now dated and incorrect.
I read it because I wanted to consider the topics like they USED to be considered. There was some magic and excitement about electricity in the past that I think we've lost. Maybe it is the texts? As I said, I found myself daydreaming a bit about the topics in this book, visualizing them. That always helps when thinking about any subject. It's very visually descriptive.

Electricity and Magnetism eBook Elisha Gray Reviews
Good book!
Of historical interest only.
If you're looking for a better understanding of the nature of electromagnetism then this is NOT the right book. It contains very little theory on the subject.
On the other hand is a very interesting reading to know a part of the history of modern industrial development.
It contains many examples of electromagnetic phenomena (induction, hertzian waves, teluric currents, etc) that where put to use in very ingenuous forms by many inventors without a clear understanding of their nature and the theory behind them.
The book has information but absolutely no pictures, diagrams, or any other teaching aids. The book is not suitable for use as a text book.
Here's a book that reads about the the same way an experienced college professor might present the subject matter...The subject is covered extremely well but be prepared to pay close attention and think about what you've been given to read .Electricity and magnetism are really covered, in depth.
This book provided the ideal review and update material for college-level study. It instills once more the confidence required as you explore the four forces of nature.
Elisha Gray is an extremely underrated author, frankly because no one has heard of him. But he writes with the passion that science was meant to be written with, and is clear in his explanations (of how the dynamo works, for example). Just because this was published in 1900 does not make it any less relevant; it's easy to say that inventions like the telegraph are relatively simple now...but could you build one? And, if so, how would you have multiple channels running through one wire? Gray answers these questions and more. This book is really for someone who wants a non-mathematic but extremely thorough account on electromagnetism.
